Here are the basics rules of football:
Objective: The goal is to score more goals than the opposing team by getting the ball into their net.
Teams: Each team consists of 11 players, including a goalkeeper. Teams can have substitutes that can be used during the match.
Match Duration: A standard match lasts 90 minutes, divided into two 45-minute halves, with a 15-minute halftime break. Extra time and penalties may be used in knockout rounds if the match ends in a draw.
Starting the Game: The game begins with a kickoff from the center of the field. This happens at the start of the match and after each goal.
Scoring: A goal is scored when the entire ball crosses the goal line between the goalposts and under the crossbar.
Offside Rule: A player is in an offside position if they are nearer to the opponent's goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent when the ball is played to them, unless they are in their own half or level with the second-last opponent. Being offside is not an offense in itself, but interfering with play while in that position is.
Fouls and Free Kicks: Fouls are called for actions like tripping, pushing, or holding an opponent. Free kicks are awarded to the opposing team for fouls. Direct free kicks can result in a goal, while indirect free kicks require the ball to touch another player before a goal can be scored.
Penalties: A penalty kick is awarded for a foul committed by a defender inside their own penalty area. The kick is taken from 12 yards out, with only the goalkeeper allowed to defend.
Throw-ins: When the ball goes out of play over the sidelines, a throw-in is awarded to the opposing team. The player must throw the ball with both hands from behind their head while keeping both feet on the ground.
Goal Kicks and Corner Kicks: If the attacking team kicks the ball out over the goal line, a goal kick is awarded to the defending team. If the defending team kicks it out, a corner kick is awarded to the attacking team.
